Assign jingle buttons to aux output?

Post by soundwithvision »

Hello,

I noticed that in audio settings there is an auxillairy output available.
What would be really nice if we could hava na option to assign the output of a button to main or aux output?
That would allow eg. to have voice announcements on main and bg music or soundscapes on output 2?
That would work with any ASIO interface.

The immediate answer is...... (roll drums)... No
The loaded jingles/tracks are sent to an internal mixer, and the mixer's output is splitted to both audio devices. Son actually, there is no possibility to choose on which device we want to play which jingle.
To allow something like that, it would require to change all the internal audio routing (with bad surprises), so that means rewriting a big part of code, thing that is not planned at all. The Aux ouput is designed to send the audio to an encoder, to stream live, for how wants to do a radio show with a minimum of hardware (no decks, no :mixer, just a PC + a microphone).

ASIO support is not planned. I previously tried to implent it, usage of the BASS ASIO engine is very different (and harder) that BASS engine, especially when using two output devices, and more, with input device. I did not got satisfying results and I canceled this feature.
Excepted in some specific usage of Jingle Palette, peoples use it with basic soundcards, that are more then enough.
So the second answer is also No

I found a workaround?
Open a second instanve of JPR and couple it to another output. That works!
For me, at least.

Okay :)
But you'll have to configure devices each time you start JPR, as well as this setting is saved in jp.ini .
Or you also copy JP folder to another one (so you'll have the samedi jingles and palettes) and start each ones, with their proper settings.

(What is SPlant ?)

Cheers :)

Splant: Short for Soundplant. A similar (classic) product...
Yours is more Radio oriented but it has similar purposes...
Tnx for the tip!

Oh I see, i looks more a keyboard mapper.
I quickly tested it, I don't like it lol
JPR is used in radios, but also in other domains like equestrian competitions etc. :)
And with MIDI, gamers could also use it to send sounds in group discussions (like Discor etc.) while playing, from controller, without having to focus on JP :)
